ORIGIN: ITALY
Botticino is a timeless natural marble quarried in the province of Brescia, in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Named after the town of Botticino where it is extracted, this stone has been prized since ancient Roman times for its warm, classic beauty and enduring strength.
Botticino marble is characterised by a creamy beige to light honey background, often interspersed with delicate white veining, occasional fossil inclusions, and subtle clouding. Its neutral tone and soft movement make it an ideal choice for elegant, understated interiors — frequently used in both traditional and contemporary settings.
Composed primarily of calcium carbonate, Botticino is a dense and durable marble. It is suitable for a wide range of interior applications such as flooring, wall cladding, vanities, benchtops, and staircases. Like all marbles, it is sensitive to acidic substances and requires regular sealing and care to preserve its polished finish.
Natural features may include fossilised shells, mineral veins, and taroli (small surface pits), which are not imperfections, but natural hallmarks of this authentic stone. These characteristics are embraced for their contribution to Botticino’s natural charm and history.
This is considered normal:
-
Veining variation and fossil inclusions: Acceptable and part of the stone’s natural formation.
-
Taroli or surface pits: Acceptable if under 5mm and not overly concentrated.
-
Colour variation within slabs: Typical due to natural mineral content and considered desirable.
Botticino offers a sense of calm, warmth, and refinement, making it a versatile and enduring choice for residential and commercial interiors alike. Its classic beauty and rich Italian heritage make it a staple in luxury design around the world.
